It is with heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Michele Rae Bauer Johns on Wednesday May 17, 2023. Michele was born in Van Nuys, CA. on May 24, 1945 to Irma Elaine Elder and Raymond J Bauer. Michele had a brother Richard Bauer (deceased), step-father Ernest Harris (deceased) and two half sisters, Nancy Lorna Utz and Heather Lily Harris.
Michele met the love of her life, Rod (Forrest Rodrick Johns) in high school and they married on June 8, 1963. They were blessed with two daughters Tamara Rae Johns and Danielle Rae Johns, four grandchildren Shaylene (Kyle) Olsen, Jennifer (Aaron) Scheer, Michele Johns and Riley Johns and two great grandchildren Finn and Juniper Olsen.
Michele worked for Verizon for 30 years. Michele and Rod moved from Ventura to Santa Paula in 1990. After Michele retired from Verizon she found a love for gardening, hummingbirds, cooking, and travel. Michele enjoyed sitting on her patio at night with Rod sipping a glass of wine enjoying the view of Santa Paula. In 2009, Michele joined Santa Paula Rotary where she was the ultimate supporter, responsible for scheduling volunteers to run the Pumpkin Patch, along with participating in many Rotary activities. Michele also helped bring fireworks back to Santa Paula, helped with the Art Museum, Boys & Girls Club and anywhere she was needed. She made a difference and will be greatly missed.
Internment will take place at Riverside National Cemetery. To respect Michele’s wishes, no services are planned, however, a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Boys and Girls Club of the Santa Clara Valley, PO Box 152 Santa Paula 93061.
