Koeta Melvin Obituary

 

On Monday the 6th of June, Koeta Melvin was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus peacefully at home with her family by her side. Koeta was born on October 27, 1922, in Everette, Washington, to Martin Paul and Vesta Ocheltree. The family moved to Alhambra in 1938 where she graduated from Alhambra High School in 1940. During her younger years, Koeta sang in a band and modeled.

Koeta met Frederick (“Fred”) Melvin at the water fountain when she worked at Aerojet. They married in 1946 and spent the rest of her life with him. Koeta and Fred had two sons and three daughters, David; the twins; Marty and Kathy; Jana and Lisa, with many furry friends along the way and a horse named Ladie. After the twins were born, the family to Covina while Fred served with the Navy in Korea. In 1954 the family moved to Port Hueneme and remained in Ventura County to this day.

Koeta managed an escrow company for many years. She was Office Manager for Forest Development, Inc for 20 plus years and continued to work into her late 80’s. Koeta had an incredible work ethic and thoroughly enjoyed her career.

Koeta loved early morning prayer and devotions. One of her joy’s was hosting dinner parties for family and friends. She loved to travel, and together with Fred traveled through Europe and took many Cruises to varying destinations. She sang in her church choir for most of her life and enjoyed writing poetry.

She was preceded in death by her father, Martin Paul, her mother Vesta, her husband Fred, her daughter Jana (Stark), her grandson Matthew, her daughter Kathy (Ikemire), her sisters Maxine Landing and Darlene Flook. She is survived by her sons, David, Marty, her daughter Lisa; her 12 grandchildren and15 great grandchildren.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his trust endures to all generations.
